Why you will LOVE This Recipe

Ok, so you know when you’re mixing up a bowl of creamy, delicious cookie dough and the temptation is just SO real to dig in and eat the dough before you bake it? I think everyone can relate to that! And while you technically could swipe a taste of some almond flour oatmeal cookie dough or pumpkin sugar cookie dough, it may not be the safest idea, due to the raw eggs! That’s why I simply HAD to say goodbye to the eggs and come up with a healthy cookie dough recipe as a variation on my protein powder cookie dough, just in case you don’t like protein powder! This cookie dough uses good-for-you ingredients to create an addictive, snack-able treat that you can feel good about enjoying- the whole crew is going to love this recipe!

Ingredients Needed

Mixing up your own bowl of healthy edible cookie dough is SO simple and quick, especially since no baking is required! Here’s all the ingredients you will need to make your own bowl:

  • Creamy Peanut Butter
  • Honey
  • Unsweetened Applesauce
  • Oat Flour
  • Salt
  • Mini Chocolate Chips

What makes this Cookie Dough Healthy?

If you’re reading this and wondering how ON EARTH I can dub cookie dough “healthy”, I’m here to show you why! This healthy cookie dough is made with more natural ingredients than typical cookie dough recipes call for, but doesn’t sacrifice on texture or taste! Instead of sugar, I used applesauce and honey to sweeten the dough, and instead of all-purpose flour, I used oat flour! It also calls for natural peanut butter to bring that delicious flavor without all the added sugar.

How to make Healthy Cookie Dough

Mix

In a medium bowl, add the peanut butter, honey, and applesauce and mix it together until smooth.

Stir

Now it’s time to add in the flour and salt and stir again to combine well. Add in the chocolate chips, if you want it to be healthy chocolate chip cookie dough, and stir once more to fold them in.

DEVOUR

You can now chill the cookie dough to give it a firmer consistency, or serve up immediately and enjoy!

Recipe Variations

This cookie dough is BEYOND delicious just the way it is, but if you want to mix things up to suit your dietary needs and/or preferences, I say GO FOR IT! Instead of peanut butter, you could totally use cashew butter or almond butter instead. Just be sure to select a sugar-free, natural style rather than a nut butter with additives like sugar. If chocolate chips aren’t your thing, feel free to throw in some dried cranberries or raisins, and if you’re looking for a bit of crunch you could toss in a handful of chopped nuts!

How to store and freeze Cookie Dough

Fridge: To keep your cookie dough in the fridge, I recommend placing it in an airtight container and placing it in the fridge. It will last up to a week this way.
Freezer: To freeze your cookie dough, place it in a freezer style ziploc bag and label it with the date. Set it in your freezer, where it will last up to three months.
