American-turned-Swiss watchmaker, Hamilton, makes some of the finest watches available for their price. Celebrated for quality, accuracy, and durability, they’re just the kind of trouble-free timepieces that could (hypothetically) grace the wrists of fierce resistance fighters in the forbidding deserts of Arrakis. Presumably, this explains why Dune: Part Two filmmaker Denis Villeneuve tapped Hamilton to design a custom “Desert Watch” for the movie. Even better news for Dune fans: Hamilton has just released two limited-edition timepieces inspired by the film that you don’t have to be a fictional Fremen to wear.

Hamilton has a storied history with Hollywood. Having provided timepieces for over 500 movies, the brand has produced innovative creations that can be seen in two Christopher Nolan flicks, Interstellar and Tenet, and famously as standard issue on the wrists of agents in Men in Black. So, it’s no surprise to see Hamilton watches cropping up in the Dune universe. For the “Desert Watch” collaboration, Villeneuve worked with prop master Doug Harlocker, who assisted in making a wrist device perfect for the Fremen to wear on the big screen.

While the “Desert Watch” isn’t available on this planet, two limited editions clearly inspired by it are: the Hamilton Ventura XXL Bright Dune and the Hamilton Ventura Edge Dune. Both Ventura models are powered by quartz movements, feature a blue dial (like the Fremen’s blue-tinted eyes), and sport a black rubber strap. Of course, they come in commemorative, film-inspired packaging.

The Hamilton Ventura XXL Bright features a 52 x 47.6mm stainless steel case and is 11.8mm thick with a black PVD-coated finish. A button on the watch’s left side activates glowing blue lines inside the face via luminescent coating. Limited to 3,000 pieces, it’s priced at $1,750.

The slightly thicker Hamilton Ventura Edge features a 51 x 47.2mm stainless steel case that’s 14mm thick and also has black PVD coating and a rubber strap. Water resistant up to 100 meters, its somewhat cooler display is read both horizontally and vertically. Limited to just 2,000 pieces, this pricier model is $2,500.
