For the last month, REI has been the place to look for lush deals on camping gear, e-bikes, and lightweight jackets, but some of the biggest scores have been on men’s hiking shoes, including waterproof boots, trail runners, and everything in between. If there’s one style that’s a can’t-miss, it’s on one of the retailer’s bestselling models from Timberland that’s now on sale for less than $100—a lower price than you’ll find at both Amazon and Zappos.

Right now, the Timberland Mt. Maddsen Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots are on sale at REI for $90—a 25% discount on the normal $120 price. These boots have accrued over 900 five-star ratings from REI shoppers who use them for everything from hiking and working to hunting and farming, pushing them up into a top 5 bestselling ranking among all hiking boots on the site. They’re available in sizes 8 through 13 with some wide options available.

These hiking boots use Timberland’s proprietary waterproof membrane to keep water locked out alongside the full-grain waterproof leather upper and fully gusseted tongue. They’ll also keep feet comfortable thanks to a dense but lightweight EVA midsole that absorbs shock and an internal TPU shank that offers underfoot support. Underneath, the brand has opted for a Green Rubber outsole that’s made with 42% recycled rubber and offers multiple tread patterns for more robust traction.

Those who have traversed hiking trails in this boot agree that it’s one of the best, with the ability to stand up to any kind of terrain. “These boots have walked me through dust, mud, water, and rocky terrain,” a shopper shared. “They are comfortable, durable, and nicely waterproof. Their grip on dry terrain is outstanding. Trekking over wet rocks requires a bit more awareness, as should be the case no matter what’s on one’s feet. I am very satisfied with these boots.”

Other shoppers have turned to the Mt. Maddsen boots for regular life, citing comfort and durability above all other shoes. “I’m on my second pair of these boots and love them,” a shopper exclaimed. “Completely comfortable with no break-in time needed, and they always keep my feet dry. Comfortable enough that I often put them on instead of sneakers for the day or to walk the dogs in my neighborhood when hiking boots are absolutely not needed.”

Now that it’s on sale for just $90, the Timberland Mt. Maddsen hiking boots are something those in search of a refresh should immediately consider. Because they’re being discontinued, they’re likely to start selling out soon, so make sure to get your size as soon as you can.
