Major League Soccer continues to grow in North America ahead of the 2026 World Cup and has become a multibillion-dollar business in the U.S. For the first time ever, two teams in the league have been valued at more than $1 billion, with one team’s value jumping more than 70 percent since the previous year.

Forbes‘ list of the most valuable MLS teams heading into 2024 ranked Los Angeles Football Club as the current most valuable team in the league. The team brought in $140 million in revenue last year, marking a 20-percent jump from the year before, and is estimated to be worth $1.2 billion today. The Los Angeles Galaxy, another LA team and David Beckham‘s former squad, came in third at $950 million.

Beckham himself is an investor in Inter Miami CF, which ranks as the second-most valuable team in the MLS and the league’s second billion-dollar team. It’s currently estimated to be worth $1.03 billion and saw a 72-percent jump in its reported value in the past year. Inter Miami’s explosion in value is in large part due to the arrival of Argentinian soccer legend Lionel Messi, fresh off a win for his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup—a move that Beckham helped convince Messi to make.
