Running through Dec. 18, the REI Holiday Warm Up Sale & Clearance comes just weeks before Christmas as the brand discounts some of the most sought-after winter products up to 50% off. From warm jackets and snow pants to insulated sleeping bags and snow shoes, it’s a great opportunity to stock up on clothing for ski and snowboard season or to pick up some last-minute gifts for the guys on your shopping list.

A perennially popular gift item, a beanie can go a long way in a cold winter season. Merrell Thermo Chill Mid Waterproof Boots, $97 (was $130) at REI 
For those in need of new winter boots, Merrell’s Thermo Chill is one of the best deals to find during REI’s sale. Available in sizes 7.5 through 14 wide, it provides full protection from moisture without the burden of heaviness. It’s got a mid-height shaft that’s just tall enough to keep out snow when plowing out the driveway and uses a nice angular tread to help prevent slips.
REI Co-op 650 Down Jacket, $90 (was $129) at REI 
The REI Co-op 650 Down Jacket has been a favorite among Men’s Journal readers, alongside the brand’s Magma 850 down hoodie, which is also on sale. Hoodless, lightweight, and fully packable, this hoodie can play a role in more than just cold weather. It’s a great layer by itself in spring and fall but the hoodless design and lightweight materials allow it to layer under a larger top coat to achieve optimal warmth. Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket – National Park, $94 (was $125) at REI 
Rumpl makes cool blankets that are highly giftable. Its National Park blanket collection, seen here, offers a way to add a personal touch to any guy’s camping experience with a reminder of experiencing one of their favorite parks, including Joshua Tree, Acadia, Rocky Mountain, and more. The blanket itself is 75 by 52 inches and is highly useful in a tent.
REI Co-op XeroDry GTX Pants, $95 (was $159) at REI 
Also from REI Co-op’s XeroDry collection, this Gore-Tex pant is wind and waterproof, and, like the aforementioned jacket, also packs down into a neat little pouch. The reviews rave about these pants as the ultimate lightweight wet-weather option for hiking and cycling but note that they’re not insulated. With that said, some have mentioned they could be good for snowsports (or even shoveling) if layered with warm leggings or sweatpants underneath.
Smartwool Classic Thermal Merino Crew Base Layer Top, $80 (was $115) at REI 
One of the best deals to score during REI’s Holiday Warm Up sale is this base layer from Smartwool. A top-rated product at REI with over 600 five-star ratings and a glowing 4.8-star average, shoppers are saying this top “fits like a glove” and that it’s their “favorite base layer.” That might be due to its comfortable merino wool fabric and flatlock seams that reduce chafing. Regardless, it’s a long-sleeve base layer that works for many with a ton of great colors to choose from.
REI Co-op Merino Wool Liner Gloves 2.0, $18 (was $30) at REI 
Not only are gloves an everyday essential for a guy’s winter wardrobe, but they’re another good gift for men, especially if he’s hard to shop for. REI Co-op’s merino wool liner gloves can service a dual purpose. While warm enough to wear on their own, they’re also slender enough to slip under a shell glove in extreme cold weather. If worn by themselves, they have touchpad sensors on the thumb and fingers for easy access to a phone.
Smartwool Intraknit Thermal Merino Quarter-Zip Base Layer Top, $98 (was $140) at REI 
Smartwool’s Intraknit merino wool quarter-zip base layer provides a closer-to-the-body fit than a traditional fleece jacket, which comes in handy when needing to layer up. Despite that, it also looks nice worn on its own, layered under an insulated vest, or as a running top thanks to the natural breathability of merino wool. We’re fully expecting this to be a hot gift for men this year.
Smartwool Classic All-Season Merino Base Layer Bottoms, $63 (was $90) at REI 
Having a pair of leggings or base layer pants to put under hiking pants, snowboarding pants, or regular snow pants can fully enhance an outdoor experience. It’s no surprise that Smartwool, one of the heaviest hitters in the base layer game, makes one of the best. This pair, as expected, is made from merino wool with a little bit of nylon for added durability. Shoppers love it, too, saying that it works just as well in the summer as it does in the winter.
