Dakota Johnson Says Some ‘The Office’ Cast Members Weren’t Speaking by Finale
Dakota Johnson has appeared in a wide range of movies and TV shows throughout her career. With so many varied credits to her name, one might forget that the Madame Web star had a role in the series finale of the beloved workplace sitcom The Office. And while the show brings joy for many people, Johnson didn’t exactly experience that emotion on set.
The actress reflected on her guest spot in a Feb. 8 appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Johnson had just wrapped up her short-lived sitcom Ben and Kate a decade ago and was cast to play a new accountant in the Dunder Mifflin office on the show’s grand finale. When looking at photos of herself during her guest spot, Johnson recounted some less-than-pleasant memories.
“God, that was actually the worst time of my life,” she said honestly of The Office ending. “I loved that show so much. And they were like, ‘Do you wanna be in the series finale?’ And I was like ‘Of course!’ thinking that I’d show up for like half a day. And I was there for two weeks. And I’m barely in the f–king show!”
The longer-than-expected filming schedule wasn’t the only thing that took Johnson aback. After seeing the show’s characters interact and play off each other on screen, she was surprised not to see that same camaraderie in person.
“They were sad, and there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years,” she said. “Some people didn’t speak to each other, and I’m coming in like, ‘Hahaha, I’m so excited to be here!’ And no one wanted to talk to me. Nobody gave a f–k.”
As for revisiting The Office universe in today’s world, the show’s co-creator Greg Daniels has already shut down the possibility of a reboot.
