Fitness Influencer Accused of Hacking Ex’s Laptop, Sharing Nude Photos

Powerlifter and boxer Stefanie Cohen Margarici, better known as Stefi Cohen to her one million Instagram followers, was arrested Tuesday in Miami on multiple criminal charges. Cohen is accused of hacking into her ex-boyfriend’s computer to access nude photos of his current partner, which Cohen then allegedly disseminated on the internet with the express purpose of “exposing and humiliating her,” according to court records reviewed by Local 10.
Cohen, a 32-year-old Venezuelan native, holds three all-time world records in powerlifting, according to Men’s Health. She’s also “25-time world record powerlifter,” according to My MMA News and her own Instagram account; and one of the owners of the Hybrid Performance Method Gym in Florida.
Authorities allege that in March 2022, Cohen gained access to her ex-boyfriend’s laptop, which he had left at her home, after she learned he was living with another woman. She was able to guess his password and summarily access several nude photos of the victim via an iCloud account. Cohen then sent the images, without consent, to a text thread which Cohen, her victim, and “several other girls were also a part of.”
“In one of the messages, Ms. Cohen states she sent the photos maliciously and with the intent to cause emotional distress to (the victim),” the police report reads.
The victim came forward to authorities in November 2023.
On Tuesday, local law enforcement moved in to arrest Cohen at her home; but the pro boxer reportedly attempted to evade arrest. When told by an officer that she was being arrested, Cohen “did not comply and began to walk at [a] fast pace back to her residence,” the arrest report states.
It continues: “Ms. Cohen then stated she was not going with them and began to physically resist,” including stiffening her arms so they couldn’t cuff her. Officers were finally able to restrain her, but just as they did Cohen allegedly “right leg hooked” one of the officers in an effort to “sweep him off his feet.”
Once in the back of a squad car, police claim Cohen “placed her right leg on the latch to unlock the door and grabbed it with her toes [and] pulled the latch with her toes and intentionally broke the locking system causing the door not to lock at all.”
Inevitably, Cohen was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. On Wednesday, she went before a judge; Cohen faces felony charges of unauthorized access to a computer, as well as misdemeanor charges for sexual cyber-harassment and criminal mischief. She’s also facing a municipal resisting arrest violation.
Cohen was released on a $3,300 bond shortly after her appearance, according to The Independent. The judge told her she must keep away from her ex-boyfriend and the victim. She has not yet entered a plea in the case.
