Why Travis Kelce Missed GF Taylor Swift’s Birthday Party

Taylor Swift was out in New York City on Wednesday night celebrating her 34th birthday. Joining her was a cadre of stars, including Blake Lively, Miles Teller, and Zoé Kravitz, but one person conspicuously missing was Swift’s boyfriend (not husband), Travis Kelce. As it turns out, Kelce couldn’t make the party because he was stuck at the office, The New York Post reported.

Kelce was in Kansas City for a mandatory practice ahead of the Chiefs’ game with the New England Patriots this Sunday. The Daily Mail captured photos of Kelce just before 8 a.m. Wednesday as he drove his Rolls Royce to Arrowhead Stadium.

Kelce did manage to squeeze in some celebration time with Swift last weekend while the pop star was in Kansas City. She came to watch her beau play the Buffalo Bills and supported him after a hotly debated 20–17 loss. Per TMZ, the two spent Sunday night partying alongside Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, as well as Kelce’s mother Donna, in a bar bedecked with holiday decorations. They hung out well after the others had departed, finally heading home together around 2 a.m.

Swift didn’t seem to be missing Kelce much at all Wednesday, one day after he announced his skyrocketing jersey sales in the U.K. The pop star hit trendy Nolita restaurant Freemans for dinner before heading to nightclub The Box to dance the night away. She was joined throughout the festivities by Gigi Hadid, Alana and Este Haim, and Selena Gomez.

It’s unclear if Swift will be cheering Kelce on at his game this Sunday in Foxborough, MA. However, even if she isn’t able to attend, the lovebirds will be together soon enough. Sources told Us Weekly that they plan to spend the forthcoming holidays together in Kansas City, while Swift enjoys a break from her Eras tour.
