Travis Kelce came to the defense of his lady following Sunday’s showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. The game took place on the Pats home turf in Foxborough, MA, with Taylor Swift cheering on her boyfriend from up in her suite. However, some fans were less than good sports, booing and jeering when the 34-year-old singer was shown on the Jumbotron.

But as Kelce recalled on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, those unsportsmanlike fans were in the minority, as most cheered when they saw her.

“I will say this, they showed Taylor at the game, and you don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colors,” the 34-year-old told his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce. “It just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed her on the screen.”

“There might’ve been a few Brads and Chads that were booing, but for the most part everybody was screaming their f–king tail off for her,” he continued.

“I was trying to keep it cool. I was like, don’t show your cards, don’t show your cards,” he added. “It was fun. Shoutout to the Patriots, New England. She’s on record saying that stadium is one of the funnest that she’s played at. So for them to show her is just kind of, I guess, showing her some love. Shoutout to the Patriots for doing that.”

Kelce was referring to a comment Swift had made in her Time profile after being named “Person of the Year” earlier this month, remarking on the frenzy every time she’s shown on-camera at a Chiefs game. The game against the Patriots on Sunday marked the seventh she’s attended this season since she and Kelce began dating.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in, she explained. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”

“I’m just there to support Travis,” Swift added. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

As Kelce tells it, most fans are thrilled when Swift attends games, whether she’s wearing the home team’s jersey in Kansas City or otherwise.
