Ever since I was little, I’ve had a thing for blush. While it’s not as high up there on my priority product list as liquid eyeliner or red lipstick, it’s still one of my faves. I’ve always appreciated the simplicity of it, how it can instantly make my complexion go from zombie-adjacent to a healthy flush. However, blush, or specifically powder blush, is the one product that my 41-year-old skin seems to have grown out of. I find that it settles more into my pores and just doesn’t blend as well as it used to. Change, ugh, we hate it!

But before anybody panics about my blush problems, I’ve luckily been able to find a workaround: cream and liquid blush. They blend well and don’t sit on my skin like a powdered donut. So, now I’m all about these dewy, juicy blushes, which is why I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Youthforia Color Changing Blush Oil, which is also TikTok-approved. (Yes, TikTok made me buy it, or really request a sample of it, thanks to beauty editor privilege.)

Youthforia Byo Blush — $36.00

First, the lowdown on this blush. I had never seen anything quite like it, which makes sense, as, according to the brand, it’s “the world’s first color-changing blush oil.” It looks like green liquid, but when I put it on, it transforms into the perfect rosy hue. The way the blush works is it reacts to the pH in your skin, which means the resulting color is unique to you, and works on all skin tones and types, making it naturally inclusive—something that is a major part of the brand’s ethos.

As someone who has oily skin, I am always hesitant about putting more oil on it, but there was no issue with this blush. It’s lightweight, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, and free of mineral oil, parabens, PEGs, cyclic silicones, phthalates…all that questionable stuff. Another cool thing? The blush is filled with antioxidants, including the brand’s signature Skin Chi Complex which is made from six plant-based ingredients, and is inspired by how the founder, Fiona Co Chan, did Tai Chi with her grandparents when she was a kid.

I have to admit, I’m always a sucker for color-changing products. (I actually have a lipstick from the 1970s that changes color in my collection.) But this goes beyond a cool gimmick. From the ingredients, to the results, to the easy application (you just dab a dot or two on each cheek and can use either your fingers or a blush to blend, not to mention the cute packaging), this is a winner. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a blush, this is a must. Plus, you can also use it on eyes and lips, and I love a multi-use product!
