The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of nearly 600,000 beds sold at popular retailers like Walmart, Wayfair, and Overstock.com.

The commission found that 17 models of the Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed upholstered bed frames manufactured by Home Designs Inc. have been known to “break, sag or collapse during use, posing fall and injury hazards to consumers.” Home Design Inc. admitted in its own statement to receiving 128 complaints, 36 of which resulted in injury, regarding various models. Most of the 580,000 recalled frames were sold in America, though a small number retailed in Canada.

The affected frames were sold online through Walmart, Wayfair, and Overstock.com between July 2018 and November 2023, retailing between $100 and $300. Home Design Inc. advised all affected consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled beds and contact Home Design Inc. for a free repair kit.” They also offer PDF manuals and video tutorials for repairs on their website.

If you purchased one of the affected models and wish to obtain a refund rather than a repair, send your name and mailing address along with a photo of your bed or a copy of your proof of purchase to recall@homedesign-us.com. The company also requests you attach a picture of the law label, which is on the back of the headrest.

You can check out the CPSC’s notice, which contains all of the affected models.
