One of my FAVORITE ways to start the day is with a big, hearty and healthy bowl of oats. Whether it be banana peanut butter overnight oats or healthy cinnamon roll protein oatmeal, I am HERE FOR IT and simply can’t get enough of oats! If you’re like me, I can guarantee you will be just as obsessed as I am with cooking oatmeal with egg white. This recipe hits all the marks- it is warm and filling, has just the right amount of sweetness, is protein PACKED and is so easy to make. On top of all that, it is a nourishing and good-for-you breakfast that even picky eaters will enjoy! Seriously- what is NOT to love about this delicious recipe?!

Why should you add Egg Whites to Oatmeal?

Oatmeal is loaded with iron all on its own and is incredibly filling and nourishing, so why not boost it up even more with some protein? Egg whites will add lean, pure protein to your oatmeal as well as more texture and mild flavor, too. Egg whites and oatmeal is a simple but ideal breakfast to give you the energy you need to tackle your busy morning, no matter what your plans are!

Why is Protein important?

We all have heard a thousand times (or more) that it is important to incorporate a healthy amount of protein into our diets, but why exactly is that? Well, protein is an important part of a healthy diet because it is made up of amino acids! Amino acids are essential in terms of building and repairing muscles and bones, and to create and maintain important hormones and enzymes that your body needs to function optimally.

How much protein do I need?

As for the quantity of protein you should aim to consume for your body’s health, I generally recommend starting with 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. Cooking up some egg white oatmeal is a fantastic place to start- you will be getting a boost of protein and enjoying a tasty bowl of oatmeal too! 

Ingredients Needed

Making up your own pot of this tasty breakfast oatmeal is SUPER easy, so your hungry belly will be filled in no time at all! Here’s the handful of ingredients you will need to make it:

  • Rolled, Old Fashioned Oatmeal
  • Cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • Liquid Egg Whites
  • Honey/ Maple Syrup
  • Vanilla Extract

How to make Egg White Oatmeal


Add the oats, cinnamon, and salt to a small pot and stir to combine. 


Add in the milk and stir, bringing the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat a bit and continue cooking until the oats are thick and creamy. 


Now it’s time to add in the egg whites, stirring constantly, until they are cooked and the oatmeal is nice and thick in consistency. 


Remove the pot from heat and add in the sweetener and vanilla, stirring to combine thoroughly. Divide into bowls, top as desired and DEVOUR!

Topping Suggestions

So this is where it gets FUN! You can absolutely eat this oatmeal as-is, but you could also make it a bit extra by adding some tasty toppings! I recommend chopping up your favorite fruits and placing them on top of your oats- strawberries, blueberries and/or raspberries would be delicious. To make the oatmeal more indulgent and rich, add a swirl of your favorite nut butter, some chopped nuts and even some chocolate shavings to the oats. The sky’s the limit, so dress up your oatmeal however your heart desires.

Egg White Oatmeal

This warm and filling Egg White Oatmeal is a great way to start off your morning! Packed with protein, iron, and so easy to make!

  • 1/2 Cup Rolled, old fashioned oatmeal (GF if needed. 50g)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp Cinnamon (depending how much you like cinnamon!)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 Cup Unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/3 Cup Liquid egg whites
  • 1 Tbsp Honey or maple syrup (or sweetener of choice, to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla extract


  • In a small pot, stir together the oats, cinnamon and salt.
  • Stir in the milk and bring to a boil on high heat. Turn to medium high and simmer, stirring frequently, until the oats are thick and creamy, about 4-5 minutes
  • Add in the egg whites and stir constantly until they are cooked and the oatmeal is thick, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the sweetener and vanilla.
  • Top with whatever your heart wants and DEVOUR!
