Sean “Diddy” Combs has established himself as a preeminent figure in pop culture as a rapper, record executive, and business mogul. One area where Diddy has been needing some help, however, is with his basketball skills.

The “I’ll Be Missing You” MC took to Instagram to give an inside look at his hooping abilities. He confessed to the camera that he isn’t as talented on the court as one would think. “Gonna let you in on a secret: Diddy right now has the worst jump shot that a Black man can have,” he admitted.

To remedy the situation, Diddy recruited renowned NBA shooting coach Chris Matthews, a.k.a. Lethal Shooter. As an accomplished coach and a high school basketball teammate of Kevin Durant, Lethal Shooter has the résumé to back up his reputation. The teacher-student relationship with Diddy paid off with mixed results, prompting criticism from commenters including former NBA star and three-time Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson: “These n****s never picked up a ball and shot around? Like never?”

It’s not the first time Lethal Shooter has worked with a prominent rapper to improve their basketball skills, as Drake recently brought him on to help with his own jump shot. He’s additionally worked with artists like Kanye West, Future, Rick Ross, 21 Savage, and Chance the Rapper, as well as other stars like Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and actor Adam Sandler. He’s also helped train NBA stars throughout the years including Anthony Davis, Jaylen Brown, and Dwight Howard

We all have to start somewhere, and Diddy is lucky he has one of basketball’s best shooting authorities on his side.
