Diners in Wisconsin received an off-the-menu special on Tuesday when a deer charged through a plate glass window. In a turn from a ’70s nature-takes-revenge movie, the incident went down in the middle of a pre-teen Halloween party featuring 65 over-sugared middle schoolers.

Surveillance footage shows customers at the Beloit, WI Noodles and Company location running for cover as the buck crashed through the entryway. Costumed diners could be seen jumping out of the animal’s way as it careened between the booths. Eventually, it gained access to the kitchen, where it poked around aimlessly without finding much sustenance.

“It was a pretty large deer. It was a male deer with, like, five spikes on each of its antlers,” Patty Pickering, the location’s general manager, told News 3 Now. “My first instinct was [that] the kids must have dropped something [or] tipped something over.”

The 65 teens, who had just returned from an early trick-or-treating venture, scattered while the deer investigated their orders. One young man, apparently too frightened to stand, simply camouflaged himself from the animal using his bright yellow hoodie.

“The food is so good, even the deer want to eat here!” Pickering said, admirably holding up the company’s end. She did say, however, the hungry little guy left some food on the table…literally.

“He missed an entire pan of meatballs I had just pulled out of the oven,” Pickering marveled.

The buck quickly made its way out of the restaurant, the entire incident lasting a total of only 90 seconds. Luckily, neither animal control nor law enforcement needed to be involved. After its midday snack, police officers spotted the deer lounging on the edge of nearby woods.

The unidentified noodle-lover is the latest in a wave of hungry animals making their way into human environments to obtain food. Last month, a bear hopped on a terrified family’s picnic table and chowed down right in front of them. Also in September, a bear broke into a family’s home and relieved them of their White Claw supply.
