Crown Royal Launches Its Oldest Whisky Ever
This month, Canadian distiller Crown Royal is releasing its oldest whisky yet, Crown Royal Aged 30 Years. Too often we forget that our northern neighbors make darn good whisky. In recent years, Canadian whisky become the go-to choice for many spirit lovers—think A$AP Rocky’s Mercer + Prince or Playboy’s $600 Rare Hare Lucky Bastard. Still, when most of us think about Canadian whisky, the first brand that comes to mind is Crown Royal—probably because they sell over four times as many cases as any other brand in the category.
But it’s not just sales that make Crown Royal the first name on everyone’s lips. While most Canadian whiskies tend to be non-age statement blends, the Manitoba-based Crown Royal has been making a mark over the last few years thanks to its age-statement bottlings. Recent releases include last year’s 29 Year Old and 2021’s Aged 18 Years.

Unlike previous entries, however, the new Aged 30 Years was produced at the now-shuttered LaSalle distillery in Montreal, Québec. While the space no longer distills spirits, it still operates as a bottling and aging facility. Adding to the new release’s rarity, each whisky used in this blend was distilled in the brand’s famed Coffey still—the only one in North America.
On the nose, the whisky delivers aromas of pear and maple syrup. The velvety palate offers flavors of luscious orchard fruits and creamy vanilla, which lead to a sweet finish with notes of oak and cinnamon.
“In crafting this special release, we wanted every detail to reflect the specialness of this whisky—from the exceptional liquid to the meticulously designed bottle to the hints of gold and iridescent pearl-like sheen on the packaging,” says Tatiana Conti, Vice President, Crown Royal.
Bottled at 46 percent ABV, Crown Royal Aged 30 Years retails at a suggested price of $500 per 750ml bottle. It is available for a limited time regionally in AZ, CA, DE, FL, GA, IL, LA, MI, OH, PA, TX, and Military bases or via the brand’s official website.
